Our latest wine Avia Pinot Grigio is truly outstanding. The vineyards are managed masterfully with the latest technology. The “Colio” and Brda area is perfect in terms of soil and climate to bring out the best qualities of the variety. Avia Pinot Grigio is the fastest growing white wine in decades.
Slovenia is a country rich in the beauty of its land and the hearts of its people. It is blessed with beautiful mountains, lush green valleys, sparkling rivers and lakes, and more than 6,000 caves. Great skiing is a long tradition in the beautiful Slovenian Alps, which are located along the Northern border with Austria. Slovenia is about the size of Massachusetts in area. The beautiful capital city of Ljubljana is a paradise of architecture and history. Understandably, Slovenians refer to their country as “The Green Treasure of Europe.”
Slovenian winemaking is a tradition thousands of years old. A trip to Slovenia in September is always a memorable time as the excitement of the grape harvest and crush adds to the special charm of the people and countryside.
We are looking forward to our introduction of our award winning Traviata Ribolla Gialla in the coming months. Traviata Ribolla Gialla won a gold medal in the New White Wine Category at the 2009 WSWA Tasting Competition.
Avia Wines, Traviata Wines and Bagueri Wines are bottled in Dobrovo in the heart of the Goriska Brda district of Slovenia's Primorska wine region. Primorska shares it's western border with Collio, Italy, which lies in Italy's Fruili-Venezia Giulia wine region. Our Winery is open for tours. A visit to our gift shop and tasting room is always a day to remember.
